I'm still alive!

So sorry for not posting for so long. I have been battling with a bout of depression lately. It comes and goes and I'm not sure if it's the weather or a mid-life crisis. Ha! I haven't felt very creative lately or very connected to spirit and I am finding not being connected really does have it's consequences. Ugh.

In any event, I did want to tell you all about a masquerade ball I will be attending next Saturday! It's held every year here in Portland at a beautiful three story ballroom. It's called The Vampire's Masquerade Ball. Take a look at last year's ball. :)

I will be wearing the most beautiful top I haven't been able to wear until now. I'll have to post a picture later.

Hope you're all doing, well, better than me! :)

Beautiful blessings to you all!

  2. Michelle, either of those are enough to cause depression, and perhaps it is a combination of the two, or something else entirely.
Whatever the cause, you are recognizing that you are currently in a valley, and that is the first step in getting out of it.
Hopefully, you will recognize the cause and can take further steps to banish the depression entirely!
The Ball looks SO magickal and fun, and will help you out of funkland, at least for a few hours!

Sending hugs and positive energy, for a new lightness in your step, and in your heart!

  4. I suffer from the same thing. Over the years I figured out it's just good to go with it, mope around, have a pity party, and then I feel better.

Sending you big hugs, friend. Wish you were closer - I'd bring over lime daiquiris! That would fix you up!

  7. Michelle,

I've always felt a strong connection to you as though we were sisters. I'm sure we are sisters in spirit as you are with so many others who feel the same pull towards you via this magical blog.

Like you, I have cats as I do cat (and dog) rescue, have always been charmed and intrigued by the past, enjoy domestic pursuits (even housework) am a closet writer with magical stories I dream of publishing one day, and believe that nature is the panacea for all, including depression.

I used to suffer from TERRIBLE bouts of depression, but no more. Here's my recipe for dealing with depression. M A G I C

My quick and easy no fail favorite:
    Classic French Cherry Gratin

1 1/2 pounds sweet cherries, Pitted (I use frozen ones thawed)
    1/2 cup unwhipped cream
    1/3 cup sugar
    2 eggs
    1/2 cup finely ground almonds
    pinch of sea salt
    1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
    1/2 teaspoon pure almond extract

    Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Butter a 10 1/2 inch round or oval glass baking dish. Arrange cherries evenly over the bottom.
Process remaining ingredients in a food processor or blender and pour over cherries.

Back in center of over for 30 minutes or until gratin is golden brown and firm. Cool and then serve with vanilla ice cream. Yummy!

As you savor this dish to your favorite music, either light some candles or go outside and take in the sun or the moon and stars and remind yourself how lucky you are to be enjoying a moment of warmth, comfort and peace, and give thanks!

    A soul sister,

Heather PS..Bring back the music, I miss it!
